Road Trip!

As if giving up your day job and heading out west to volunteer on a farm isn't awesome enough, my good friend, Tiffany, ventured out on a fun-filled road trip to get there. See a few of the shots that she took on her adventure above and be sure to visit her blog, Lieblingslauf, to see the pictures from all her other adventures too (trust me, she goes on plenty!)

And if you're into cooking, specifically the vegan variety, hop on over to Tiff's other blog, This Last Whole Earth, for interesting recipes, and beautiful food photos too...

Garden Update: In the Kitchen

This pizza (inspired by one I had at Joey's in Wynwood) was made using Arugula from my herb garden. It's super simple and I highly recommend it. Here's the recipe:
Take a Boboli thin pizza crust and cover it with mozzarella and gorgonzola cheeses. Sprinkle with walnut pieces and pop in the oven. Once the cheese is melty, take it out and top with fresh arugula and drizzle with truffle oil (expensive but worth it!) Voila!

Fresh basil from the garden...waiting to be used (while smelling delicious).

Dill from the herb garden being made into a Sweet and Sour Cucumber salad using a recipe from the book From Seed to Skillet

Homemade turkey soup made from Christmas dinner leftovers and garnished with dill from, you guessed it, my herb garden!

In the Garden

I just wanted to share a few snaps I took of my newly planted veggies and herbs! The problem in my yard is low light, so I decided to plant everything in portable containers (the veggies are in styrofoam coolers!) so I can move them as is needed.

The veggies: Onions, bell peppers and 2 types of tomatoes.
The herbs: Mint, parsley, thyme, rosemary, basil and chives.

PS-Those cute little herb tags were purchased from Etsy seller Make Thyme.

Cupcake Heaven

I woke up with a craving this morning. Luckily SWEET is just around the corner from my apartment.

Vegan cupcakes on Mondays and "Pupcakes" for our doggie friends...yum!

Sweet cupcakes and cakes are freshly baked each morning in the Sweet kitchen. All of the Sweet frostings, fillings and batters are handcrafted from scratch using the finest ingredients including Callebaut chocolate, Madagascar bourbon vanilla, and Bensdorp cocoa. Sweet cupcakes do not contain trans fats or stabilizers and are best enjoyed on the day that they are purchased.
