Things I like: Paper

This awesome teddy bear made out of paper by Japanese architect, Ryuji Nakamura via Today and Tomorrow

Recycled paper jewelry by Frucci Design

Ok, not paper...but related, no? Gold-plated staples

Alright, these aren't paper either, but still pretty cool.

A brief trip to Nashville...

Being a tourist on Broadway.

The hunt for all things Johnny Cash (I met John Carter Cash!!!)

My gracious hosts

Butch Walker

Gabe Dixon Band @ Fusion 2009

I'm not the biggest Scarlett Johansson fan, but this spread is pretty amazing. I'm especially in love with the bracelets in the second photo. Oh, and that hair color is great too!

Thanks to Rackk and Ruin.

I'm Off...

...to Nashville for the weekend. Have a good one!

Bêtes de mode

Not sure why, but I'm kind of obsessed with these Bêtes de mode (fashion animals) created by HELMO for the Galeries Lafayette in Paris.

Thanks to Today and Tomorrow.

Custom Order: Mini!

I custom-made the mini ring on the right for my friend, Trish. Want one?? Send me a message for a quote and I'll post a custom listing for you in the store!

Remember the couch??

Making a mold of the cushion pattern.

Experiments with couch-cushion jewelry!

These pieces were just an experiment but I'm brainstorming what I want to make next. I'm picturing a really big charm and a chunky cuff bracelet. The longer strip above is going to be a 2-finger ring! Stay tuned!!!

Adventures in BronzClay: Part 2

I have some good news, and I have some bad news. Let's start with the bad:

This pile of "dirt" happens to be what was originally an assortment of different size pyramid studs. In fact, one happened to be the bronze version of this necklace. They came out of the kiln looking pretty good (with the exception of the necklace which had fallen apart), but once I started to handle them they pretty much crumbled in my hands. I'm fairly certain the problem is that I didn't have them in the kiln for long enough, so next time I will have to do a separate firing schedule for the stud pieces.

Now for the good news:

The thinner pieces that I fired turned out just fine! I even took a hammer to them after I took them out of the kiln and they survived. The top picture is how they look straight out of the kiln and the bottom how they look after polishing.

The adventure continues.......

I just purchased this random dollhouse couch on ebay for a jewelry project. What kind of jewelry item could I possibly be making that involves a dollhouse couch? You'll just have to stay tuned to find out!

Technically it is at least...it's a high of 39 here in Boston today but the light at the end of the tunnel is finally in view. Sunny days spent lying in the park are just around the corner:

Punk Rock Luxe Photoshoot

Last night I had a big fancy event to attend so I took the opportunity to get my makeup done and get all glammed up. I decided it wasn't every day that I got to wear sweeping lashes and dramatic makeup so I decided to set up my tri-pod and snap some photos of the new Heist pieces. As ridiculous as I felt "modeling," I really like the way the photos turned out. With these types of pieces it's hard to tell what they will look like worn when you're looking at them on a computer, so hopefully this will give everyone a better idea. Keep an eye out for these photos to show up in the store!
