Adios 2010!

Happy New Year from Heist! This year has had its ups and downs, for sure: I made a big move (although my stuff, which is still in storage in Boston, was not so lucky), I've made some great new friends, strengthened bonds with old friends, and Heist continues to grow! I'm looking forward to some exciting new projects in 2011 and I'm hoping this will be the biggest year yet for us. Thank you SO much for the support and I can't wait to get to know all of you better in 2011!

And now...to help usher in this fantastic new year, the cutest video EVER! Enjoy!

xoxo,
Heist

Plastic Bag Monster

"...we collected 40,000 used plastic bags and 7,500 used plastic cups from 12 kindergartens, 21 primary schools, 4 high schools and 3 faculties from the city of Ljubljana (Slovenia) and from more than 500 people from Ljubljana.
Plastic Bag Monster from Kongresni trg spreads its plastic tentacles through the streets of Ljubljana. It symbolizes the spreading of the consumerism and waste segregation. The monster itself has adjusted to the environment and therefore survived. It is supplanting us from the food chain. It just might succeed and it’s all up to us. It is reproducing with inconceivable speed and knows no mercy. It feeds on individuals’ sloth and irresponsibility."...

Wandering through the Wynwood galleries

All in all, despite my lost voice and exhaustion, it was an amazing ABMB! Now I'm full of new inspiration and am keeping my fingers crossed for a possible really fun project Heist might be involved in. Thanks for the inspiration, Art Basel...see you next year!

Garden Update

Remember this planter I made? Well, this weekend I spent some time replanting and cleaning it up...under the watchful eye of my supervisor, Zero, of course.

Herb garden maintenance...

One of two pineapple plants

My new succulent basket (that's an aloe plant on the bottom right)

The portable veggie garden. I planted the remainder of my onions...but since this picture was taken, I'm fairly certain that all my onion plants have died. I'm going to have to do some research to see what went wrong.

The smaller tomato variety, on the other hand, is growing like crazy. I staked it up and since this picture was taken it's grown almost all the way over the top. Plus, the first little tomato has appeared on the vine!
