Treats!
I made these doggie treats for Zero (and his doggie friends) the other night and just wanted to share the recipe here. It began with a recipe from Cooks.com but since it didn't make complete sense I ended up with something slightly different. Zero loves them (as does doggie friend, Leia), so I'm considering it a success!
2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1 tablespoon wheat germ
1 teaspoon chicken bouillon or soup base
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon brown sugar
6 tablespoons of liverwurst
1 egg beaten (For added calcium, process the whole egg shell in a blender or food processor until smooth)
1/2 cup ice water
Mix together flour, wheat germ, bouillon, garlic powder and brown sugar until well combined.
Cut in liverwurst until mixture resembles crumbs.
Stir in egg. Add enough water so that batter will form a ball.
Roll dough out to 1/2 inch thickness and then cut into shapes of your choice.
Bake in a preheated 350F oven for 25-30 minutes. Cool on wire rack and then serve!
