Gunther, Christine and Otto

The original Van Life: A 26 year tour, through 195 countries in a Mercedes G-Wagen (with 549,000 miles on it) named "Otto" = the definition of an epic adventure.

PNW: Part 2

1) I spent many, many hours exploring Indian Beach at Ecola State Park. One of the definite highlights from my trip.

2) The Big Tree at Humboldt Redwoods State Park

3) Spent a few glorious hours in the International Rose Test Garden in Portland. OR pretending I wasn't panicking about not having a place to stay for the night. (It worked out in the end)

4) Exploring the cutest shops in San Francisco's Mission District, including the beautiful shop, Paxton Gate, and their ridiculously well-curated plant section.

5) A little bit of sun while overlooking the Oregon Coast from the 101.

6) Stocking up on fresh produce at the beautiful farmers market outside the Fort Mason Center in San Francisco.

7) The Pacific Northwest reaffirms their love of flannel on random road side signs. I'm not complaining (please see photo 1).

PNW: Part 1

A few shots from my amazing Pacific Northwest adventure to get things started:
1) Standing on the edge of Devil's Churn, trying to overcome my fear of heights

2) A little rental car dash decor: an ever-growing pile of driftwood and roadside flowers

3) My first morning in Portland

4) The magic and fury that is Cape Perpetua

5) Essential soul warming food after chilly hikes on the coast

6) Roadside attractions

7) Towering redwoods in Redwood National and State Parks

Voted Girl I Most Want To Be

I first heard about Alyssa Larson through a Q&A on Tomboy Style and decided she sounded like a pretty rad person to follow on Instagram. I was right. Alyssa lives in Bozeman, Montana and her IG feed is filled with bee keeping, horseback riding, fence mending and other things that I'm sure are all in a days work when you live in Montana. And it's all really beautiful. Check out some of my faves below.

Wrightsville Beach

I just got back from a 5 day vacation in Wilmington/Wrightsville Beach, NC. The first few days were cold and rainy, but it was the perfect weather for exploring the area and eating all the delicious food the area has to offer, including my favorite, Flaming Amy's. The last day was bright and sunny and we lounged on the beach all day and, of course, got sunburned.
Sipping beers on the porch watching the rain

Exploring and surfing in the gloom

One of the tamer nights, playing cards in the cottage

Hanging around the Country Store eating boiled peanuts

Facing the Sound through the screen door

Tiny Messes

Tiny messes seem to occupy every corner of the Heist studio. Here's a peek:

1) What the studio rarely looks like
2) Zero inspects a new stock of leather coats before they're cut and bundled
3) Prototypes for a new style of tote bag (coming soon!)
4) Prepping vintage fabrics for 'Change is Good' pouches
5) Messy fabric piles
6) Strips of leather for Key Chain tassels
7) Bundled leather
